Mohammad Reza Byrami, 1965 Mohammad Reza Bayrami is an outstanding contemporary Iranian novelist and storywriter whose works have been translated and published in Germany, Russia, Arab Countries, Turkey and others. He has won the prize of 34th National Book of the Year of I.R.IRAN in fiction for the novel “Lamyazra”-(Non- plantation). His novel “The Mountain Called Me” won the international prizes of “Swiss Golden Bear Award”, “Swiss Blue Cobra Prize” and “Swiss Book of the Year”. The subject of Iran-Iraq war and the resistance and sacrifice of the Iranian people during the Holy Defense years, is reflected in the works of Byrami and one could track the addresses of this issue in his works. “Suspended Bridge”, “The Contact Line”, “Anemone Field”, “The Last Seven Days”, “Lamyaza” are among his Holy Defense stories and memoirs. The influence of Samad Behrangi, one of the forerunners of contemporary Persian story writing, could be seen in Byrami’s works. Simplicity and eloquence of the language along with the writer’s power of characterization and his special technique to create suspense and dilemma are some of the literary features in his works. He is a realist novelist who knows how to evoke the sense of the reader and produce interesting situations.
